“HOT LIPS”

…my glossies came in today.  Perfect for this dreary, rainy day.  I got to browse all the pretties for this coming Spring.

The very first thing that caught my eyes is this…

So where do I begin?  First, white on white is super fresh for Spring.  Second, that backless halter.  I die.  My all-time favorite style of clothing.  Third, that awesome pink hair (oh, why do I have to work corporate, which pink hair will NEVER be ok).  Lastly – THOSE AWESOME RINGS!

I’ve heard about these “hot lips” rings for  a while now, but I haven’t seen them in pastels, and they are soooooo pretty!

I hurried over to Solange Azagury-Partridge to see all the available options.  They come in a rainbow of colors…

The deep cherry glossy one is very vampy.  I love it.

I wish I could get them in all colors and wear 2 different colors every day.  But at about $1500 each (yikes), I may just have to settle for one.  I think I’m loving the bubblegum pink the most…

Oh so pretty.  Love~

“CRAZY WEEK + WEEKEND”

…this past week was an awfully crazy week for me.  We had our annual work performance review, deadlines, decision-making type of meetings, celebrated belated V-Day with E, exchanged E’s V-Day present (he got me a few Deborah Lippmann polishes.  Love the thought, not so sure about the colors), my car is acting up (ugh), met with a potential personal trainer, impromptu happy hour (much needed after the performance review), a visit to the doctor, and we spent 6 hours last night drinking wine and crafting Nora’s upcoming wedding decor.  Whew~   After all that, this is all I want to do right now…

If anyone gets to go to a spa this weekend, I’m super jealous.  I’m not quite so lucky…more errands to run (in the pouring rain).  And I swear I planned to go running this weekend, but this rain…ugh…go away already.

Hope you’re having a more relaxing weekend than mine~

“FABULOUS FRIDAY [FOOD PILLOWS]”

…I’m looking for some new throw pillows for my living room, and while searching, I came across these funny food pillows.  So tempted to buy them, but I think I’ll be hungry all the time if I have them on my couch.

And the search continues for “non-food-related” (for lack of better terms) pillows…

“BEAUTY SECRET”

…if someone ever asked me, “what’s the one beauty product you couldn’t live without?” – my response, without hesitation, would be “MOISTURIZER”!  I’m totally obsessed with moisturizer.  I cannot live without them.

Aside from my unexplainable Asian freckles, my skin is pretty normal.  I’ve experienced with all kinds of moisturizer over the years from the drugstore-kinds to the high-end department store kinds…and these are some of my favorites…

1.  CHANEL HYDRAMAX + ACTIVE

Even if it doesn’t work as well as it does, I would still buy it because it smells so heavenly.  I’ve never tried any other moisturizer that smell this good.  It comes in both cream and gel formula, but I stick to the cream one since my skin tends to dry out quickly now that I no longer live next to the Equator (Bangkok, Thailand).  The cream formula is pretty rich and absorbs quickly.  I love it.

2.  Creme de La Mer –  also smells nice, but not as nice as the Hydramax.  As any La Mer addict would readily agree, it’s a very decadent moisturizer, but the price tag is a bit heavy.  I shelled out $200 every 3 months for a little while, then I eventually gave up.  I’d rather buy shoes.

3. Neutrogena Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 Light Tint – by far, my most favorite moisturizer with SPF.  It’s 30 so it’s strong enough to give you a decent day-time protection if you don’t stay out in the sun all day.  It’s so light and not greasy with a light tint.  Perfect for work so I can skip foundation.

But my all time favorite beauty staple is…*drum roll please*…AQUAPHOR!

It’s only $6.99, and it “works wonders” – literally.  Obviously, I cannot slather it all over my face, but a little bit under the eyes and around the lips before bed, and trust me, you’ll wake up all dewy.  The skin around my eyes was drying a lot more this winter (aging totally sucks!), and I noticed some faint fine lines, and I freaked out.  I tried all kinds of fancy eye creams and moisturizer, and none of them was moisturizing enough.  In an act of desperation, I slathered my under eyes and lips with Aquaphor for a week, and they were much, much better.  I totally  Aquaphor~

If you do you know of other moisturizer that work well – please do share.  I’d  to give them a try.

“I WANT TO BE HER!”

…a fresh, new blog by Andrea Linett, a former Creative Director of Lucky Magazine.  If you have read Lucky before, you will recognize the illustrations on her blog.  It’s the same artist, Anne Johnston Albert, who used to illustrate Andrea’s article in Lucky.  I remember her article on the last page in Lucky every month, and it used to be my favorite because of the cool illustrations.

Her blog is not updated too often so I checked back every few weeks so there are a lot more to be discovered.  These looks are my favorites so far…

I love that these are real women, and they are a great reminder that comfort can be so chic sometimes.  Love.

“TREND TUESDAY [FASHION WEEK FALL 2011]

…yes, it’s Fashion Week right now, and I’m here in CA, not in NYC :-(.  Not like I would get to go to the shows if I were to live in NYC, but at least I would be closer to that energy and excitement of what to expect this coming fall…

Like this bronze make-up look from BCBG Max Azria.  So posh and pretty.

Or this stylish coat from Prabal Gurung…

And I love this fitted jacket from Doo.Ri.  I would wear it with skinny black pants though…

I love these 2 looks from Rebecca Minkoff

But my favorite is definitely Jason Wu’s collection.  Mostly Black & White, lady-like, and fabulous.  Just check out those polka dot tights.  Love, love, love!

“FULL OF LOVE”

…this year, for Valentine’s Day, I think about E, and remember how lucky I am to have him in my life.

He loves me and takes care of me.  He tucks me into bed every night and kisses me good night.  He notices my new outfits (not so sure if that’s always a good thing because it means he knows I’ve been shopping) and compliments me.  He calls me in the middle of the day every day, while I’m in the midst of work chaos, to check in on me.  Most importantly, he always keeps me full and happy.  I know that as long as I am with him, he will never let me go hungry – literally and emotionally.  So every time, I’m eating, I always think of him.  Isn’t that funny that I associate the love of my life with food?  It seems very natural to me.

Just like every year, we don’t get the privilege of spending this day together because he has to be at work crafting wonderful meals for other couples…so if you’re lucky enough to get to spend the day with your loved one(s)…enjoy it :-).

Happy Day everyone~

“DIY VALENTINE CARD”

…since this is our very first Valentine’s Day as husband & wife, I wanted to remind E of our wedding so I thought I would evoke the feeling of that day by using the same materials from our wedding to make the card.  It’s a good way to use up the leftover materials, and since I’m all about recycling, this is perfect!

Note:  Nothing was purchased for this project, but I’m assuming that it should cost between $3-5 for all the materials.

I just used a silver cardstock paper to make the card.  The outer part of the card is the textured side, and the inside is the flat side so I can write on it.

I then used my trusty heart punch to punch out several hearts from different color and textured papers.

For this project, I only used Gray and Yellow.  I ran out of Tangerine papers :-(.  I then arranged the hearts to see how I want to glue them.

Next, I just glued them away on the card using regular paper glue.

And remember these pre-cut letters I got for the Table Numbers project?  Well, time to put them to good use.  I used an “E” and an “S.”

I glued “E” to front and “S” inside.

This is the how the card looks when it’s done…

It took me less than 10 minutes!  It took me longer to write what’s inside than to make the card itself.  I hope E likes it, and I hope it reminds him of our special day.

I love you, E~
