"GREEN BAG"

…not literally green, but green as in environmentally friendly.  Not only these bags are socially responsible because they are made from recycled materials, they are super edgy.  Who knew eco-friendly can be so rocker-chic?

These ones below are from Matt & Nat.  They use recycled plastic bottles to make the lining for the bag.  Some of the bags are also made from vegan leather…cool huh?  I’m totally getting myself one…

And these ones are from Novella Royale.  Each bag is made from vintage leather jackets…fashionably avoiding creating more waste from new materials.

I’m just doing my part to help the Earth.  I’m not quite 100% green since I still can’t let go of my SUV and trade it in for a Prius just yet…but I’m trying…by getting one of these cute bags.

These just go to show…just because you’re a tree-hugger doesn’t mean you can’t do it in style 😉

"ROOSTER CAFE"

…admittedly, I haven’t blogged about food in a while, which is rather sad.  This just means that we’ve been so busy that E and I haven’t had a chance to go check out new places.  We finally managed some time one Sunday morning for a brunch after a night of too many sake bombs (on my part, E was working)…and the Rooster Cafe was our pick.

It’s a tiny hole-in-the-wall cafe tucked into a quiet street of Costa Mesa close by the anti-mall, the Lab.  Its location being in the vicinity of the anti-mall sort of gives away its vibe of relax, casual, and grunge-y cool kind of way.  The cafe only has about 15 tables so finding seats can be quite a problem on a busy Sunday morning, but we managed to find a spot after I made a big deal about moving tables around to accommodate our group.  The nice girl that worked there finally helped us get a table.

The menu is what I’d like to call “compact” – just enough selections for you to have options, but not too many too overwhelm you.

E ordered the Portugese Scrambled with portugese sausage, avocado, and brown rice and a steaming cup of cappucino.

I opted for fresh squeezed OJ and a cup of Mexican Hot Cocoa.  The cocoa has a bit of spice in it so it was quiet interesting.

That’s me enjoying my hot cocoa…(totally off the topic – check out my new polish color.  I got so many cool new colors for the summer.  I have to blog about them soon).

What?  You don’t actually think that’s all I was gonna have for breakfast do you?  Followed the OJ and the hot cocoa, I also ordered the Breakfast Tacos AND bag of Have ‘A Corn Chips (my favorite soy sauce corn chips by the way).  The tacos are pretty sizable.  I only managed to eat one taco by the end.  The tacos came with the Rosemary Roasted Potatoes on the side.

One thing I noticed missing there is fruits.  They don’t offer any fruits there, which I find to be rather disappointing because I would love to have fruits or may be fresh tomato as a side instead of the potatoes (I’m really not a rosemary fan).

Our friend also went with us, and she ordered the Texas Toast Combo which comes with Egg White Scrambled and Bacon Strips.  I ate most of her Egg White Scrambled.  It was totally delish (and probably the reason why I didn’t finish my own food).

Overall, I’d have to say I enjoyed the simplicity of the food at the Rooster Cafe.  A perfect brunch place when you don’t feel like going somewhere too fuzzy on a Sunday morning following a night of too much sake.

"VINTAGE TRUNK"

…as a unique piece of furniture.  First of all, it’s vintage so there’s this cool sense of history that comes with the piece…second, it looks super chic.  Just look at these beautiful vintage Louis Vuitton trunks.  Wouldn’t you just love to have one in your house?

The most common use for a vintage trunk is as a coffee table…

But you’re certainly not limited to just the living room.  A vintage trunk can also be used as a bed-side table, a storage unit, a desk, etc.  It adds so much character to any room you put it in.

Even as an island in your closet. Genius.

Not only that each piece is totally unique and unpredictable, it also doubles as a storage space so if you live in a small space, it’s such a great decorating solution.

My really good friend just moved into a studio, which does not offer much storage space.  She came up with a great idea of using a really cool trunk as her coffee table.  We found this trunk at the first place we shopped at an awesome price so it was really meant to be…

It reminds me of this trunk here from Williams-Sonoma Home here except we paid a fraction of the cost…

Look at how cute it looks in her tiny living room…and she stores her DVDs and other knick-knacks in there, which totally helps keep the room organized and tidy.  A must in a small space.

I really wish I could re-decorate my living room.  I would definitely be looking for a cool trunk to replace my used-to-be-awesome-but-now-boring ottoman (yawn~)…may be something like this one here as a side table.

So cool~

"ONE SHOULDER BIKINI"

…if you haven’t noticed…I’m obsessed with everything one shoulder.  And I’m so excited to see this trend moves beyond trendy tops and fabulous dresses.  Check out these fun, one-shoulder swim candies.

These three below are some of the one-shoulder selections from asos.com

Caution: they may leave weird tan lines, but you’ll look super cute.

I totally heart one-shoulder everything…
